Pita Mediterranean Street Food

Intrigued by a New Place

I am a sucker for good Mediterranean food, and we have found some delicious Mediterranean food in Atlanta, but you never know what kind of quality to expect until you have tried someplace for yourself.  Close to my office, there is a new place that popped up a few months ago.  It had slipped my mind, but when I was attempting to make plans with a co-worker for lunch, she suggested we give it a whirl.  She had eaten their food before and really liked it, so I thought it sounded like a great option for something different.

Choices, Choices

I am a bit indecisive, so while she wrapped up a last-minute phone call, I thought I would take a peek at the Pita Mediterranean Street Food website.  By the time she was off the phone, I was SOOOO ready to go and try their yummy-sounding food!  It had been a stressful week, so I was not making the best food choices – ultimately landing with a Signature Gyro (a gyro with extra meat, fries on the sandwich, and a dollop of tzatziki).

The gyro comes with a side, but since I had fries on the gyro itself, that seemed a bit excessive.  They offer several options for sides, but again, not making the healthy choice of grilled veggies, I selected lebanee.  I had not had this before, and I was in the mood to experience the diversity of their offerings.  In case you have not had it, lebanee is a thick homemade yogurt dip covered in zahtar spice and a drizzle of olive oil.  Are you salivating yet?

Very Impressed!

Let me say – the food did not disappoint!  Here is a photo of my meal.  I couldn’t wait to dive in – you *might* see a bite missing from the sandwich…..aaaaannnndddd there *might* be a wedge of pita missing from my sampling of the dip.

The meal was absolutely delicious and a larger portion than I should have consumed in one sitting.  At least I drank water, right?   For the modest price of $8.95, it was a respectable value for a lunch meal.

Who Can Resist Dessert?

Well, as if I hadn’t made enough bad choices, I opted for trying another hard-to-resist treat that I had seen on the menu – coffee ice cream.  Not just any coffee ice cream.  Turkish coffee ice cream.  I knew it was going to be amazing, and I was not wrong!  The only thing about it that I did not like was the price ($3.00 for a single serving), but for an occasional treat, it would be a great option, on par with any more gourmet ice cream parlor.

My Review

All in all, I would give Pita Mediterranean Street Food two thumbs up!  For quality Mediterranean food in Atlanta at a great deal, it’s going to be hard to beat!  I ended up researching them a bit more, and I would recommend you check out their website to find out more.  The company was started by someone who grew up in Beirut, Lebanon, and they take a lot of pride in the quality of food they produce and the culture they instill in franchisees.  It began as a local Atlanta franchise but is rapidly expanding into the greater extended metro area up to cities a few hours away.  If I were you, I would keep an eye out on their website for a location near you – either now or coming soon.  Well worth it!
